Nityalila-pravistha Param Pujyapada Srila Bhakti Sarvasva Giri Maharaj is the elder god-brother of our Gurumaharaj, Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhava Goswami Maharaj. He has given the Kaliyadah Math (Vinodavani Math, Vrindavan) to our Gurumaharaj. Srila Gurudeva told him, “We already have one Math in Vrindavan so you can give Kaliyadah Math to some other god-brother who does not have Math in Vrindavan.” He suggested some names also but Srila Giri Maharaj was firm to give His Math to Gurudeva only. He was crying while requesting to our Gurumaharaj so ultimately Gurumaharaj accepted the Math.

He has affection for me. I used to go along with him on the train from Kolkata to Udala Math, Orissa. At present Sagar Maharaj is there in Udala Math. Srila Giri Maharaj was fond of eating preparations of potatoes. So once I cooked some Puris and potato preparation for him. He accepted them. I asked him how that was. He replied, “First class.” Later, I accepted a little of them and found that there was no salt in the curry. But he said, “Everything first class.” He was like this.

He was a very spirited person. When he used to speak Harikatha, he did not require a mic. During the time of Prabhupada, he used to meet many big personalities like the vice-chancellor and others. He used to speak English well. Today is his disappearance day.
