Day 13 : Fourth Yaam
Harikatha, Sreela Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaj
10:34am to 3:22pm. O Supreme Lord! I have got no desire for wealth, manpower or erudition (desire for deceitful Trivarga— worldly piety, money and lust or even to merge myself with the Impersonal Formless Brahma, i.e. ‘Mukti’— salvation, which is more deceitful). My only prayer is to get causeless one-pointed devotion to You.

Madhyahna kalia bhajan - Mid-day worship – Ruchi Bhajan -- Worship with tasteIn the third yama we had come up to nishta, and now after nishta we have come to ruchi bhajan, worship with taste.
nāma sādhakera ahaituki kṛṣṇa bhakti binā anya kāmanā nahi The true worshipper of Harinam (Nama sadhak) has got no other desire except causeless devotion to Sri Krishna. If there are any other desires, then the result of chanting of Krsna Nama is we would get only material worldly things. We will not attain Krishna bhakti, Krishna prema, we may get emancipation (mukti), sense enjoyment (bhukti) or perfections (siddhis) because we have ulterior desires. So we should have only one-pointed devotion to Supreme Lord Sri Krishna, then you can get contact with Sri Krishna. Means is justified by the end. If the end is something else then means should not help us to get the objective, actual desired objective Krishna prema.
na dhanaṁ na janaṁ na sundarīṁ
kavitāṁ vā jagad-īśa kāmaye
mama janmani janmanīśvare
bhavatād bhaktir ahaitukḥ tvayi
(4rd Verse of Sri Shikshastaka)Caitanya Mahaprabhu gave this instruction as to how to pray to Supreme Lord. Supreme Lord is ‘bhava grahi Janardhan’ He is not ‘bhasha grahi’. He does not give attention to what words you say, He will accept the intentions, the mood of the prayer. Externally we speak so many words, but within heart we have other desires, so according to our inner mood Lord gives fruits. So it is said, without any deceitfulness, hypocrisy, we have to submit our prayers to Supreme Lord. When in our heart we wanted these worldly benefits, God had to create these infinite planets, so many species, to satisfy the souls created by Him. You say I do not want this, clearly. I am equal to all, I have got no partiality. I shall grace Duruva, I shall grace Prahlad, and I should not grace anybody else, this is not the fact. Clearly you say, immediately I will come to you. But those who have got misconception of self and desire for all these mundane benefits, even they cannot utter these words how to pray so that they may not be deprived of the mundane benefits. There is deceitfulness in us. What we say we do not say from the heart.
O Supreme Lord, I have no desire for wealth. It is very difficult to say I do not want wealth. I do not want manpower, i.e. bodily relations wife, children, relatives, etc. or erudition, material knowledge, scholarship (panditya), or even liberation (mukti). Say it from the heart that birth after birth I attain causeless one-pointed firm and uninterrupted devotion to You and nothing else. Then I will bestow you that at once. What happened to Khatwanga raja when no demi-god or goddess could help him attain eternal welfare? Devatas got defeated at the hands of the demons and Khatwanga Raja fought with demons on their behalf and defeated the demons. The demi-gods were pleased with him, Fire-god said take this special weapon as a gift from me by which you can win the entire world, Brahma says take the Brahmastra from me by which you can destroy the whole world, Wind God says take my gift of wind-weapon by which you can defeat the whole world, Indra says I can give you my weapon Vajra. Khatwanga Raja says you are all pleased to give me your weapons. But how long will I live? Among devatas are Astrologers who can forecast and say you have one muhurth, i.e. 24 mts to live. Khatwanga Raja asks the devatas can you save me from death? The devatas look at each others faces and say we cannot do that, Mukti-pradata, Giver of Liberation is Vishnu, He only can give you liberation. These words are from scriptures and not of Gaudiya Math.
In Bengal Durga puja is very prevalent, people worship devi-devatas much and when a person dies and is taken to the crematorium then they say ‘Bol Hari Hari bol’. They do not say ‘Bol devi devi bol, Bol Durga Durga bol’, why not? You are great devotee of devi, why not chant her name? Even in North India there are many devotees of Ganapati, etc but after death they say ‘Rama nama satya hai, Rama nama satya hai’. Why not they say ‘Ganapati nama satya hai’? Harinam has been introduced into our social customs and is practiced, but we do not give it the required attention.
So, if we have causeless devotion to Supreme Lord, then we will attain supreme bliss. We will attain eternal bliss. When we attain devotion to Lord, we see all living entities in relation to Lord and will have natural love for them. It is not that Buddha came and spread the message of ahimsa (non-violence), it is already prevalent in our Country. ‘na himsat sarvani bhutani’. Ahimsa generally means not to injure, hurt, cause harm to others. But we are saying that, we mean something bigger than that, more positive, from not harming others to loving others. When you love others, ahimsa is naturally practiced. You simply love for the Lord and all His created beings, it is not real love unless you realize Lord is the Creator of all, all beings have emanated from Him, they are in Him, they are of Him and for Him. Sri Krishna says in BG ‘mamaivamso jiva-loke jiva-bhutah sanatanah’ (the living entities in this conditioned world are My eternal fragmental parts). They read Gita but do not have faith. If you love a person you love him as a whole, but if you cut his hands or nose then what sort of love is it? It is deceit. So if one has real love for the Lord and has relation with the Lord, and considers everything/everyone is of the Lord, then how can he harm or kill others? It is impossible.
gṛha dravya śiṣya paśu dhānya ādi dhana
strī putra dāsa dāsī kuṭumbādi janaHere each desire has been elaborated specifically in detail for which one usually prays to the Lord.
kāvya alaṅkāra ādi sundarī kavitā
pārthiva-viṣaya madhye e saba vāratāIf you have got pure love for Krishna, then your center of interest and others’ centers of interest is one then there cannot be any clashing. When there are separate centers of interest, you are drawing one circle by taking one center, and another person another center, then the circumferences will cross. So many countries, so many religions, so many groups if they have got different centers then gradually they will clash. Center should be one i.e.. Supreme Lord, for His satisfaction, may be in different delightful relations like some in shanta, dasya, sakhya, vatsalya and madhur. One may serve more and another less, but if the center is one, then there may be smaller and bigger circles, but there is no clashing. This is Caitanya Mahaprabhu’s teaching. If this teaching is accepted and followed then there will be peace in this world.

Only a hint has been given here because here most of the human beings are conditioned souls. If it is narrated very explicitly then they will misunderstand. They will not be able to understand this. This is the highest transcendental realm. Conditioned souls have no entry. Narada is our Guru. He has got love for Krsna in the master-servant relation, but he has got no entrance into it. Even in sakhya rasa, even in dasya rasa, they are not eligible for entering into it. So how conditioned souls, enslaved jivas can understand? So, a hint has been given so that you may know that there is some transcendental realm where such pastimes are going on, so you may have some impetus to go into it or some desire to go to enter into this realm. There may be some persons, they may have such desire;for that reason (a hint has been given here).

(Sri Govinda-lilamrta)At mid-day Radharani’s service to Sri Krishna is more than the service of crores of gopis put together. Her thoughts are on the following lines ‘na gani apana dukha, sabe vanchi tara sukha, tara sukha amaro tatparya, more yadi diya dukha, tara hailo mahasukha, sei dukha mora sukhavarya’. We cannot imagine this. “I do not consider my own grief. I only want His contentment, my purpose is His satisfaction. If by giving suffering to me, He becomes very happy, that distress to me will be my highest contentment.” Such love is very difficult to find in this world. So Radharani is topmost, supreme among crores and crores of gopis. In the association of Radharani the happiness and bliss that Krsna experiences, the ecstatic feelings that are manifest during such meeting that are explained here we will not be able to understand. Astasattvik-vikar—eight principal ecstatic feelings, thirty-three kinds of other subordinate ecstatic feelings—sanchari—are manifested in Radha-kunda. When the child is born it has to be loved, cared for, read books, go to school, study, and till the child is born, he will simply read and will not understand anything. And for one who has borne a child there is no need to study any book, how to love the child will naturally come. When relationship with the Lord is established, then love naturally comes. What is use of simply talking? In reality there is no faith in the Lord at all, then where is the question of relationship? So, if there is no faith then the object is very far. By faith one attains the Lord, not by logic and arguments. Lord is ‘Shata-siddha’ cent percent Perfect, He will manifest in a surrendered heart. One cannot know Him by challenging mood. In proportion to the degree of surrender one has realization of the Lord, and there is no end to surrender. Lord is Infinite, His sweetness is Infinite, there is no end to tasting His sweetness. Ananta Deva from time immemorial is chanting the glories of the Names of the Lord but still could not reach its end. Lord’s love is like this, seamless, infinite. It never becomes stale, always new, afresh.
Some extraordinary ecstatic feelings have been mentioned here. Vamya—crookedness of prema, Utkantha—supreme eagerness to get contact with the object of love, in Their transcendental amorous play (kandarpa-yajna) the joking words of Lalita and other gopis give them much pleasure, and other innumerable pastimes like swinging ceremony (dola), pleasant strolling in the forest (vana-vihar), water sports in ponds and rivers (jala-keli) and such other pastimes have been explained here which are beyond our comprehension. These are all the ecstatic feelings of the gopis, only they have the eligibility to enter into these pastimes. If we become servant of the servant of the servant of the gopis then we will feel blessed, overwhelmed with love.
To get association of a premika bhakta is very very rare. If we want quality we will not get quantity. If we want quantity, we have to give up on quality. One good character person in Batinda can do good to lakhs and lakhs of people whereas in a world of six and half cores of people, a characterless person can do good to whom? No body. There is no value to quantity, but to the quality. The people have no humanity at all and act more worse than animals. Animals kill to satiate their hunger and we humans kill each other for what? What will they understand about all this? Now a days we cannot even imagine what they are up to, day by day degradation is going to the extreme. So, we think we know more than rsi munis and leaving Lord all together we think we can bring peace in the world. How is it possible? ‘Om purnam adah, purnam idam, purnat purnam udacchate, puranasya puranam adaya puranam eva avasishyate Om Shanti Shanti Shanti hi.’ Peace is purnam. How much it has been said that Lord is your goal who is Purna, Infinite. Remove Infinite from Infinite and what remains is still Infinite. In higher mathematics, in differential calculus, it is there, infinite minus infinite is infinite, it will not become zero. Infinite minus something is also infinite. In the material world everything is limited, finite. Your body is finite and its requirements are also finite. But if someone gets more the other is deprived of it. There are always haves and have-nots and as such conflicts prevail. But Purna Vastu, Lord is our goal. Even if infinite people get Purna Vastu, still Purna Vastu Lord remains Purna. This is the teaching of India. Then there will not remain any conflict. If someone’s demands are met, other’s demands will not be fulfilled, and there will always be fight. This is not the teaching of India.
So here, it is spoken about the Supreme Love, the highest pastime at Radha-kunda at mid-day.
