While worshiping Sri Krishna, while doing Harinam, you should not have ulterior desire, you should have exclusive devotion.

In Sri Sikshastakam 4th Verse, Caitanya Mahaprabhu has clearly mentioned,

na dhanaṁ na janaṁ na sundarīṁ
kavitāṁ vā jagad-īśa kāmaye
mama janmani janmanīśvare
bhavatād bhaktir ahaitukḥ tvayi

Caitanya Mahaprabhu accepting the role of a devotee and performing bhajan is giving teaching to others how to perform bhajan, how to pray to the Lord, do it with your heart and soul. If you speak like a parrot without understanding the gravity of the words, what is the benefit? Speak from the heart, then I will give you the fruit.

‘O Supreme Lord, I do not want wealth, man-power – wife and children, and material education which is the cause of bondage with the material world, so much so desiring liberation is extreme kind of deceit. In Sri Caitanya Caritramrta it is written ‘ajnana-tamera nama kahiye kaitava, dharma-artha-kama moksa-vanca adi saba tara madhye moksa vancha kaitava-pradhana yaha haite krsna-bhakti haya antardhana.’ When one is in ignorance he will consider his body to be atma and he desires for dharma, artha and kama. Among them the topmost ignorance is merging oneself in Impersonal Formless Brahman, which amounts to deceiving Lord eternally. This is extreme deceit. We are in Sanatana dharma. A chaste wife serves her husband in all respects. But she will not allow anyone take the place of her husband in her heart. She loves and respects all in relation to her husband. She will not love or give attention to those who have no relationship with her husband. She is a chaste wife.

Now, there is one woman who serves her husband sincerely but desires things like clothes, jewellery etc. The husband says, ‘You will get everything. Why you should desire for such things? You serve from your heart.’ Still she serves with other desires. Repeatedly he tells. Because of that she gets angry and says, you want service from me, take. She tied a rope around the neck and hung herself and died. This is topmost deceit. She deprived her husband of her service eternally. Lord says give up all these, wealth, man-power, everything. Ok, I will tie a rope around my neck and finish myself. This is extreme deceit, depriving Lord of one’s service eternally. It is deceiving oneself and deceiving others too. So it is said it is bad.

Whatever desire is there in the heart according to that Lord will bestow fruit. So here He is praying please bestow Me causeless one-pointed devotion to You. Thus Vrtrasura prays: I do not want any thing of this material world, worldly piety, wealth and other desires, I do not want even liberation from birth and death, I want only to serve You. Vrtrasura says I do not want the position of Brahma nor do I want to be the supreme ruler of all the earthly planets or the lower planets, I do not desire to be the master of the powers of mystic yoga (asta-dasha siddhi) for which how much yogis strive, nor ‘apunar-bhavam va’ liberation from birth and death, ‘tva virahayya kankse’ if I have to be deceived of the service of Your Lotus Feet.

Lord is Supreme Bliss Incarnate and if we run away from Him we will deceive ourselves and also the Lord. So Caitanya Mahaprabhu says do not blame the Lord, clean your heart and say your prayers sincerely and correctly. Supreme Lord is equal to all. You should submit your prayer from the core of the heart. Only uttering words is not sufficient. You say, submit your prayers to the Supreme Lord, I do not want money, I do not want man-power, I do not want erudition, worldly education, I do not want emancipation. This is the greatest deceitfulness, eternally to deprive Supreme Lord and also to deprive himself, highest deceit, hypocrisy. Only causeless devotion to Sri Krsna, you submit prayer and your life will be successful. And by your association others life will be successful. You can help others.

gṛha dravya śiṣya paśu dhānya ādi dhana
strī putra dāsa dāsī kuṭumbādi jana
kāvya alaṅkāra ādi sundarī kavitā
pārthiva-viṣaya madhye e saba vāratā
ei saba pāibāra āśā nāhi kari
śuddha-bhakti deha more kṛṣṇa kṛpā kari

Daily, for atleast one month, we are uttering the same. If we confine only to utterance and have no practical application then what benefit you will get.

śuddha-bhakti deha more kṛṣṇa kṛpā kari
premera svabhāva yāṅhā premera sambandha
sei māne kṛṣṇe mora nāhi bhakti-gandha

Indication of Midday Pastimes of Radha-Krsna

A hint has been given of the transcendental pastimes of Radha-Krsna.

madhyāhne ‘nyonya saṁgodita vividha-vikārādi-bhūṣāpramugdhau
vāmyotkaṇṭhātilolau smaramakha lalitā dyāli-narmāptaśātau
dolāraṇyāmbu-vaṁśī-hṛti-rati-madhupānārka-pūjādi-līlau
rādhā-kṛṣṇau satṛṣṇau parijana-ghaṭayā sevyamānau smarāmi
(Sri Govinda-lilamrta)

All the ecstatic feelings of highest order including Astasattvik-vikar – eight principal ecstatic feelings, thirty-three kinds of other subordinate ecstatic feelings – sanchari – all kinds of highest sweet transcendental ecstatic feelings are manifested in Radha-kunda when Radha-Krsna meet at midday. Radha-kunda pastime is the highest because Krsna gets the highest pleasure in this pastime. That is the criterion to understand how much progress you have got. Even the highest satisfaction of Krsna, the devotees are giving at midday in Radha-kunda. Next to that is Goverdhan. Other next is Vrndavan and then Mathura. After that Narayana bhakti, then Brahmananda, then Varnashrama dharma, then there is no bhakti, nothing. No submission to the instructions, injunctions of the scriptures, all sinful acts to Varnashrama dharma, from Varnashrama dharma, dharma starts and the highest is Radharani. When there is no higher education, in this you can be doing everything for one’s own satisfaction, he is ready to cry, he is ready to do everything, less stage of the human beings. How those lower stage of human beings can understand this? Where is adharma, at what stage and where is human being? Now in the Kaliyuga to fulfill one’s own personal desires one is ready to do all types of sins, most abominable condition which you cannot even imagine some 60-70 years before. We saw in Nadia Prakash Newspaper, we cannot even think of, so much degradation has come in the society because of aversion to Sri Krishna. Then in what vanity we think we understood everything?

All kinds of ecstatic feelings, it is written here, you can read but may not be able to understand. Vamya – crookedness of prema, external expression of rudeness, harshness is there but inside actual just the reverse, Utkanta – supreme eagerness to get contact with the object of love, and have become externally too much restless, by hearing jokes of gopis Radha-Krsna get happiness. In addition there are innumerable pastimes like swinging ceremony of Radha-Krsna (dola), pleasant strolling in the forest (vana-vihar), water sports in ponds and rivers (jala-keli), stealing of flute (vamsi-harana) and other transcendental amorous pastimes (rati-krida), drinking sweet honey(madhu-pana), worship of Sun-God (Surya-puja), etc, not in detail, some of these ecstatic feelings in delightful relation have been mentioned here. Only gopis are entitled to worship Sri Krsna in this way. Our only hope is that Gauranga Mahaprabhu has appeared and if we take shelter of His Lotus Feet this is possible, the highest transcendental realm you can get. But you should have firm faith and take absolute shelter of the Lotus Feet of Supreme Lord Sri Krishna, specially combined manifestation of Radha-Krsna, Gauranga Mahaprabhu.
