Afternoon worship—Attachment to KrsnaAfter Ruci comes Krsna asakti, attachment to Krsna. Attachment will come where there is relationship. Nama Sadhak's svarupa is he is Krsna's eternal servant. (nitya dasa). We are advised to pray to Krsna. We have forgotten Him and now again desire to serve Him and love Him, so we have to go and pray to Him. If we desire to serve someone personally I have to approach him and say I want to serve him. But if he says I have no need of service, then what you will do? So there is need for prayer. Krsna is full of mercy, He has His eyes, His attention on all His created beings. So you pray to Him from your heart and He will fulfill your prayer.
ayi nanda-tanuja kiṅkaraṁ
patitaṁ māṁ viṣame bhavāmbudhau
kṛpayā tava pāda-paṅkaja-
sthita-dhūlī-sadṛśaṁ vicintayaThis is 5th verse of Sri Sikshastaka. O Nandanandan, I am Your eternal servant. By forgetting You and due to my own misdeeds, I have fallen in this terrible ocean of births and deaths. Please cleanse me of my offenses and kindly accept me as Your servant, consider me as a particle of dust of Your Lotus Feet. Then I can cross over this material ocean. When we pray in this manner to the Lord, He will fulfill our prayer.
tomāra nitya-dāsa mui, tomā pāsariyā
paḍiyāchoṅ bhavārṇave māyā-baddha haṣā
kṛpā kari’ kara more pada-dhūli-sama
tomāra sevaka karoṅ tomāra sevanaI am Your eternal servant. By forgetting You I am drowning in the material ocean. Please consider me a particle of dust of Your Lotus Feet and accept me as Your servant.
Indication of afternoon eternal pastimes of Radha-Krsna:
A glimpse of idea is given here, evidence you will find in Govindalilamrta of Krishnadas Kaviraj Gosvami.
śrī rādhām prāpta-gehāṁ nija-ramaṇa-kṛte klṛpta nānopahārām
susnātāṁ ramya-veśāṁ priya-mukha-kamalāloka-pūrṇa-pramodām
śrī kṛṣṇaṁ caivāparāhṇe vrajam anucalitaṁ dhenu-vṛindair vayasyai
śrī rādhāloka-tṛptaṁ pitṛ-mukha-militaṁ mātṛ-mṛṣṭaṁ smarāmiAfter meeting with Krsna at Radha-kunda at noon and serving Krsna along with the gopis, Radharani returns home to Javat in the afternoon and is again engaged in Krsna seva. She prepares various good dishes for Krsna's pleasure. Those who have love they do not think about their bodily needs like food and rest, all the time they are engaged in seva. Later Radharani takes bath nicely and dresses Herself nicely for the pleasure of Krsna and very anxiously waits on the path for return of Krsna from the pasture and is extremely delighted to see the Lotus Face of Krsna.
The way in which Radharani serves Krsna for His pleasure, so also a devotee serves Krsna with the sole aim of pleasing the Lord.
The Lord feels pain to see His children, the conditioned souls being averse to Him and coming and suffering in this material world. Say for example, parents have ten children and one of them left home leaving the parents. In the material world though parents have some selfish interests, they still have affection for their children. And when another son persuades and brings back the son to them, they are very pleased. When the son leaves they become unhappy, pained. And Lord has affection of crores of parents and desires to have His children with Him. So Radharani Herself serves and also engages others to serve Krsna.
Our Guruji is Radharani's expansion. One time he told, an outside person sees that one is guru and the other is disciple. But a devotee thinks that the conditioned soul forgetting Krsna has fallen in this material world and when he is convinced and brought back to and engaged in the service of Supreme Lord then the Lord is very pleased. So we put efforts to engage them in the service of the Lord. When they start following the rules and regulations we give them mantras. Outside people see that the one who giving mantra is guru and the one who is receiving mantra is a disciple. I did not go to make disciples, my effort is to please the Lord. Outside people see something like one is acting as guru and the other as disciple. But in reality it is not so. So also, in this manner Radharani acts. The math is like a fortress. This is Gaudiya Hospital. Here there is no guarantee that all the patients will become healthy. Some may get back their health, some may not. Like doctors try to cure a patient, some get cured, some not. The main purpose of establishing maths here and there is the same. Let the conditioned souls come to the Math and perform bhajan. Even at a later time if they leave math, it has been observed that there is difference in their life which is better. A person after staying for a while in math went away, entered material life. But when later I and my Guru Maharaj visited a place we heard people there say that they have a devotee among them who is very good. It was found that he is our god-brother who is living alone separate from his family and what he had previously heard in math life has its effect on him and he had become very learned. Though he failed in math life and entered material life, still he is different, stands out from the materialists.
Krsna while returning from cow-herding is extremely delighted and pleased to see Radharani on the way. After returning home Krsna meets Nanda Maharaj and Yashoda Mayya and other father-like milkmen as well as mother-like milk-women. All are extremely delighted to get Krsna back and see Him with tears filled eyes because of their great attachment for Him. Yashoda Mayya out of affection embraces and cleanses Krsna. I remember such Krsna in the afternoon.
