Birth Centennial Annual of Om Vishnupad 108 Sri Srimad Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Goswami Maharaj, Acharya of Sree Chaitanya Gaudiya Math (Regd.)

As much we can increase our eternal devotional impressions in our heart, to that extent we can detach ourselves from our attraction to non-eternal relations and non- eternal impressions. Even Ambarish Maharaj, who was a great devotee, could only conquer all worldly desires gradually.

    Śrī Vakreśvara Paṇḍita

Vakreśvara Paṇḍita is the fourth member of the catur-vyūha, Aniruddha. He brought happiness to the Lord by dancing in the absorption of Kṛishna. He would sweetly say to Mahāprabhu, “O merciful Lord! Give me a thousand singers so that I can dance.” Radha’s dear sakhi Sasirekha also entered into him.

Mahaprabhu personally sang when Vakreswara Pandit danced, and thus Vakreswara Pandit fell down at the Lord’s feet and said, “O moon-faced Lord! Give me ten thousand Gandharvas! It will make me happy if I can dance as they sing.” The Lord answered, “I have only one wing like you. If I had another, I could fly in the sky!”

One day Śyāmānanda Prabhu was sweeping the Rāsa-maṇḍala in Vṛndāvan absorbed in ecstatic trance. Suddenly by Rādhārāṇī’s transcendental mercy he found Her ankle bracelet (nūpura) lying on the ground.

    Śrī Śrīdhara Paṇḍita

Who is capable of recognizing a devotee? He may possess all perfections, but we see only his poverty. The seller of banana products, Śrīdhara Paṇḍita, is a living example of this. He disregarded the eight mystic perfections in order to accept only devotion as a benediction. However much misery you see in a devotee’s life, you should know that in fact, he is blissful in devotional service. Those who are absorbed in sense gratification and intoxicated by learning or wealth can never recognize a Vaiṣṇava.

    Snana Yatra

The Supreme Lord is most affectionate to His devotees and is conquered by their love. How many different stratagems He engages in just to accept the service of His devotee! Though served in Goloka by hundreds of thousands of goddesses of fortune, Govinda still seems not to have enough people to serve Him. How many tricks He plays in order to engage the devotee He wants in His service. Astonishingly, the Lord Himself instructed Indradhyumna maharaj on what are the special services He would like to accept from him. One amongst those services is the transcendental bathing of Jagannath, Baladeva and Shubhadra which is performed on the appearance day of the deities.

The Holy Arrival of Jagannathdev in Chakdaha

Lord Jagannath saw Jagadish Pandit crying and so mercifully appeared to him in a dream and told him to take His vigraha and serve. Simultaneously, He appeared to the king of Orissa and ordered him that at the time of the nava-kalevara, when the wooden deity of Lord Jagannath is renewed, the outgoing form should be given to Jagadish Pandit. As a result of this dream, the king felt greatly honored to meet Jagadish Pandit and gave him Lord Jagannath’s outgoing form, which is known as the samādhi-stha-vigraha.

His kīrtana is Only for Bhagavan’s Pleasure

Krishna is telling Narada Goswami ‘mad-bhaktā yatra gāyanti tatra tiṣṭhāmi nārada’ (Padma Puran). 'Wherever My devotees assemble and sing the glories of My Name, Form, Attributes, Pastimes and Personal Associates is the place that I stay.' Also, Srila Gurudev would refer to Sri Vyasa Deva’s pastime of attaining eternal bliss after he wrote Srimad Bhagavatam exclusively for the pleasure of the Lord on the advice of his Guru Narada Goswami. Here Srila Bhakti Kushala Padmanabha Maharaj is affectionately remembering the same teaching of Gurudev through his kirtans and harikatha. that all the limbs of devotion should be performed with the sole purpose of propitiating the Supreme Lord and nothing else.
