Hymn on Haridas Thakur by Bhaktivinod Thakur
While staying alone in Puri, in 1871, Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur composed a poem in contemplation of the samadhi of Srila Haridas Thakur, the great Professor of the Holy Name, the ninth verse of which is especially well-known and is oft quoted by Gaudiya Vaishnavas.

Śrī Nāmācārya Haridāsa Ṭhākura
Hari Das Thakur is a combined incarnation of Brahma Mahatapa, the son of Richika Muni and Prahlad. The respected Murari Gupta has written in his Chaitanya Charitamrita that this muni’s son picked a tulasi leaf and offered it to Krishna without having washed it first. His father then cursed him to become a mleccha in his next life. He was thus born as Hari Das, a great devotee.

Glories of Haridas Thakur
Srila Gurudev spoke about Srila Hari Das Thakur’s real identity and the reason behind his birth in a mleccha family. He then narrated the incident of Hari Das Thakur giving mercy even to the prostitute, Lakshahira, sent by Ramachandra Khan to ruin his increasing reputation by showing a flaw in his character. Through Hari Das Thakur’s mercy, the prostitute became a great Vaishnavi. At the end Srila Gurudev narrates the Samadhi pastimes of Srila Hari Das Thakur.

How to Approach the Spiritual Master to Attain Knowledge
A pure devotee is a completely surrendered soul, so he has complete realization. By remembering, serving, by following the instructions within our heart we can connect with Guru, Vaishnava and Bhagavan. Through them, the Lord gives various teachings to the people of this world. Through Haridāsa, Mahāprabhu revealed the glories of the Holy Name; through Sanātana Gosvāmī, the current of devotional conclusions. Through Rūpa Gosvāmī He taught Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa’s pastimes of transcendental love. Simplicity and dependency are the two qualities we have to nurture in the association of Sadhu Guru and realize Krishna’s mercy.

Mahaprabhu’s Mercy On Haridas Thakur At Siddha Bakul
‘Dainya’ understood as humility is an important limb of saranagati and is predominantly and naturally found in great abundance in the associates of Mahaprabhu. In this harikatha Srila Gurudev narrates the glorious life of Haridas Thakur, a personal associate of Mahaprabhu and how he performed intense bhajan at Siddha Bakul from where he entered into nityalila.

सम्प्रदाय-विहिना ये मंत्र ते निष्फला मतः
साधनौघैर न सिध्यन्ति कोटि-कल्प- शतैर अपि
अतः कलौ भविष्यन्ति चत्वरः सम्प्रदायिनः
श्री-ब्रह्म-रुद्र-सनकः वैष्णवः क्षिति-पावनः
sādhanaughair na sidhyanti koṭi-kalpa- śatair api
ataḥ kalau bhaviṣyanti catvāraḥ sampradāyinaḥ
śri-brahma- rudra-sanakā vaiṣṇavāḥ kṣiti-pāvanāḥ
All mantras without connection to a sampradāya or not received through a preceptorial channel are fruitless. Practice of such mantras for millions and millions of years will be in vain. Therefore, four bona fide sampradāyas have appeared to rescue the fallen souls in this Kaliyuga (black age) viz. Sree (Lakṣmī), Brahmā, Rudra and Sanak.'

Highest Munificent Form of Godhead
A votary, to satisfy Chaitanya Mahāprabhu and the Supreme Lord Śrī Krishna, should at least practice the first and third verses of Śikṣāṣṭaka sincerely from the core of the heart. Chaitanya Mahāprabhu has taught in the first verse, mainly seven principal attainments or more correctly all attainments while doing Śrī Rādhā-Krishna sankīrtan.

His kīrtana is Only for Bhagavan’s Pleasure
Krishna is telling Narada Goswami ‘mad-bhaktā yatra gāyanti tatra tiṣṭhāmi nārada’ (Padma Puran). 'Wherever My devotees assemble and sing the glories of My Name, Form, Attributes, Pastimes and Personal Associates is the place that I stay.' Also, Srila Gurudev would refer to Sri Vyasa Deva’s pastime of attaining eternal bliss after he wrote Srimad Bhagavatam exclusively for the pleasure of the Lord on the advice of his Guru Narada Goswami. Here Srila Bhakti Kushala Padmanabha Maharaj is affectionately remembering the same teaching of Gurudev through his kirtans and harikatha. that all the limbs of devotion should be performed with the sole purpose of propitiating the Supreme Lord and nothing else.
