    Hari Vasare Hari Kirtan Vidhan

On Ekādaśī day, the instructions are to stay near the Supreme Lord always. But the difficulty is this. The Supreme Lord is in the transcendental realm and we are on the mundane plane, with this physical body. How, then, are we to remain near the Supreme Lord? This article gives the answer to this question.

    Glories of Varuthini Ekadashi (Hindi)

If one engages in devotional practices (bhajana) on the day of Ekādaśī even being at home, he will get a hundred times more spiritual benefits than any other day. And if this tithi is observed at any dhāma (Vṛndāvana, Māyāpura, Mathurā, etc.) or at the place where a pure devotee has manifested his worshipable object then one will obtain immeasurable spiritual rewards.

    Śrī Vṛndāvana Dāsa Ṭhākura

Śrī Kṛṣṇadāsa Kaviraja Gosvāmī says, “If even an atheist or a Muslim whould listen to Caitanya Maṅgala, composed by Śrī Vṛndāvana Dāsa Ṭhākura, he immediately becomes a great Vaiṣṇava. An ordinary human being could not have composed such a sublime work; Lord Caitanya Himself has spoken through the mouth of Vṛndāvana Dāsa. I offer millions of obeisances unto the lotus feet of Vṛndāvana Dāsa Ṭhākura who has delivered the entire universe through his book.”

The Boundless Mercy of Vrindavan Das Thakur

Vrindavan Das Thakur exemplified boundless mercy towards the fallen souls. As a devoted servant of Nityananda Prabhu, an incarnation of Vyasa and a revered teacher of the Vaishnava tradition, Vrindavan Das Thakur's mere touch had transformative power. It was believed that if even a speck of dust from his foot would fall upon a sinner's head, that individual would be blessed, with all sinful inclinations inevitably eradicated. The compassion exhibited by Visnu and the Vaishnavas transcends the understanding of those who fail to recognize their true welfare. Anyone who follows in the footsteps of Vrindavana Das Thakur and both practices and preaches pure devotion to Gaurakrishna will always be engaged in an effort to bring about everyone’s ultimate well-being. While he outwardly appeared stern towards the adversaries of the Lord, his heart overflowed with boundless compassion towards them.

      The True Spirit of Separation

The orders of the Spiritual Master are to be obeyed diligently without reserve or delay. If we wish to show our love and faith for our Spiritual Master, it will be by following His teachings. If we take these instructions seriously and do everything we can to realize them, then we will one day become capable of giving the Spiritual Master the gift that he desires above all others. The Spiritual Master will be pleased and transmit unlimited power to the disciple with whom he is pleased. To the extent that we serve the Spiritual Master with sincerity and repeat his teachings, through the association with his words, our hearts will cry out with the desire for the good fortune to be associated with him by directly seeing, touching and serving him. Only then will we be able to understand the true spirit of separation.

This kīrtana is from the section - goptṛtve varaṇa song 1 of 'Śaraṇāgati' Bhakti Gītī of Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Ṭhākura. 'Śaraṇāgati' means 'Process of Surrender'. The overall mood of Śaraṇāgati is humility. After dainya (humbleness) and ātmanivedana(self-surrender), 'goptṛtve varaṇa' is the third limb of 'Śaraṇāgati' and it means fully accepting Kṛṣṇa as our Supreme Lord and Master, and our Maintainer. This kīrtana is sung by Śrī Phuleswar Brahmacārī praying for the blessings of Śrīla Gurudev before Śrīla Gurudev's departure.

So what need is there of any other treasure?’ This kīrtana, sung by Śrī Dinabandhu Brahmacārī, serves as a heartfelt prayer for the blessings of Śrīla Gurudev prior to his departure.

        Financial Difficulty

We are to accept that which is congenial and give up that which is not congenial for worship of Krishna; we should have firm faith that He is the only sustainer and protector; we are to dedicate ourself totally to the Lotus Feet of Krishna; and be humble by giving up all false material egos.

Just by Remembering Him, One Becomes Free From Millions of Births

Mahārāja also explained that only when a pure devotee is giving prasādam, whether or not it was formally offered to Kṛṣṇa with mantras and everything. If you do that you offer the formal mantras and go near the altar and all that, you still don’t know if Kṛṣṇa has eaten it. But when a pure devotee hands prasādam, you know Kṛṣṇa has eaten it even if it wasn’t offered to him, it was just handed to the pure devotee.
