Sri Srila Madhava Goswami-Pada-Padmastavakaikadasakam(Eleven verses offered at the lotus feet of Sri Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhava Goswami Maharaj)
sata-sajjana vandita-pada yugaṁ
yuga dharma pracharaka dhurya-janam
janataṣu subhaṣaṇa sakti dharam
praṇamami cha madhava-deva padamsata–hundred; sajjana–good people; vandita–prayed; pada–feet; yugam–pair; yuga–age; dharma–dharma; pracharaka–propagator; dhurya–foremost; janam–person; janatasu–in assemblies; subhasana–eloquent speaking; sakti–potency; dharam–holder; praṇamami–I do praṇam; cha–and; madhava-deva–Madhava Deva; padam–to the feet.
1) I offer my most humble obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet of Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhav Goswami Maharaj, which are worshipped by innumerable saintly persons. He is foremost among the propagators of the Yuga Dharma: Harinama Saṅkirtan, and has the divine ability to deliver enchanting Harikatha in an assembly.
ati-dirgha manohara gaura-tanuṁ
mṛdu-manda suhasya yutasya dharam
urulambita hastaṣu rūpayutam
praṇamami cha madhava-deva padamati–extremely; dirgha–tall; manohara–mind-stealing (i.e., enchanting); gaura–golden; tanuṁ–body; mṛdu–soft/tender; manda–joyous; suhasya–pleasant smile or laugh; yutasya–combined with; dharam–possessor; urulambita–extended (usually refers to arms extending to knees); hastaṣu–in hands; ūpaform; yutam–endowed with; praṇamami–I do praṇam; cha–and; madhava-deva–Madhava Deva; padam– to the feet.
2) I offer my most humble obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet of Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhav Goswami Maharaj, whose divine bodily symptoms, such as a captivatingly tall and handsome body possessing a golden luster and arms extending to his knees, are in accordance with the scriptural descriptions of an elevated spiritual personality. His face constantly radiates a divinely soothing smile.
sisu kalaṣu paṭhyaṣu yatna paraṁ
janani savidhe sruta sastra-matam
paramartha kṛte parihīṇa gṛhaṁ
praṇamami cha madhava-deva padamsisu–child; kalaṣu–in the times; paṭhyaṣu–in studies; yatna–care; param–utmost; janani–mother; savidhe–in the proximity; sruta–heard; sastra–scripture; matam–thought (and various other possible meanings); paramartha–supreme/transcendental aim/gain; kṛte–in/for doing; parihīṇa–abstained from; gṛham–house; praṇamami–I do praṇam; cha–and; madhava-deva–Madhava Deva; padam–to the feet.
3) I offer my most humble obeisances to the Holy Lotus feet of Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhav Goswami Maharaj, who was an exceptionally bright student and learnt the teachings of the scriptures from his mother at a tender age. He later took permission from his mother to renounce home and family in order to bring the highest eternal welfare to the enslaved beings of this world.
prabhupada pade ‘rpita deha matiṁ
gurukarya kṛte yati veśa dharam
praṇateṣu sada-hitakari varaṁ
praṇamami cha madhavadeva padamprabhupada–Prabhupada; pade–to the feet; arpita–offered; deha–body; matim–intelligence; gurukarya– the work of the guru; kṛte–for doing; yati–sannyasī; veśa–garb; dharam–holder; praṇateṣu–among those who have bowed respectfully; sada–always; hitakari–benefactor; varam–boon; praṇamami–I do praṇam; cha–and; madhava-deva–Madhava Deva; padam–to the feet.
4) I offer my most humble obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet of Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhav Goswami Maharaj, who fully devoted his body, intelligence, and everything unto the Holy Lotus Feet of Srila Prabhupad. He accepted sannyasa (the renounced order of life) to fulfill his Gurudeva’s mission, and is always enthusiastic to bring welfare to those who have come to his shelter.
prabhupada manomata karya-rataṁ
susamadṛta bhaktivinoda padam
raghu rūpa sanatana labdha pathaṁ
praṇamami cha madhava-deva padamprabhupada–Prabhupada; manomata–heart’s thought/opinion; karya–work; ratam–devoted; susamadṛta–greatly venerated/respected; bhaktivinoda–Bhaktivinoda; padam–feet; raghu–Raghunath Das Goswamī; rūpa–Rūpa Goswamī; sanatana–Sanatana; labdha–obtained; patham–path; praṇamami–I do praṇam; cha–and; madhava-deva–Madhava Deva; padam–to the feet.
5) I offer my most humble obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet of Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhav Goswami Maharaj, who is wholeheartedly committed to fulfilling the desire of Srila Prabhupad to bring highest eternal welfare to all living beings, who highly esteems the Lotus Feet of Revered Srila Bhaktivinod Ṭhakur, and who follows the path laid by Srila Raghunath Das Goswami, Srila Rūpa Goswami, and Srila Sanatan Goswami.
taru-dhik-kṛta marjana śakti dharaṁ
laghu sevana matraka hṛṣṭa hṛdam
hari kīrtana santata datta matiṁ
praṇamami cha madhava-deva padamtaru–tree; dhik-kṛta–put to shame; marjana–cleansing/purifying; śakti–potency; dharam–holder; laghu–little; sevana–service; matraka–possessor of no more than; hṛṣṭa–satisfied; hṛdam–heart; hari– Hari; kīrtana–kīrtana; santata–always; datta–given; matim–intelligence; praṇamami–I do praṇam; cha–and; madhava-deva–Madhava Deva; padam–to the feet.
6) I offer my most humble obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet of Śrīla Bhakti Dayita Mādhav Goswāmī Mahārāj, whose tolerant and generous nature outshines/surpasses/transcends that of a tree, and who is extremely pleased by even the slightest selfless service of any living entity, and who is constantly immersed in Hari Kīrtan.
maṭha mandira nirmita kīrti-dharaṁ
guru gaura kathāṣu cha nitya-ratam
svayamācharaṇe para dhairya paraṁ
praṇamāmi cha mādhava-deva parammaṭha–maṭha; mandira–temple; nirmita–constructed; kīrti–fame; dharam–holder; guru–Guru; gaura–Gaurāṅga; kathāṣu–in talks; cha–and; nitya–always; ratam–devoted; svayam–own; ācharaṇe–in conduct;para–others; dhairya–patience; param–utmost; praṇamāmi–I do praṇām; cha–and; mādhava-deva–Madhava Deva; padam–to the feet.
7) I offer my most humble obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet of Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhav Goswami Maharaj, whose glory extends through his establishment of centers (Maṭhs) for spiritual education and training, who is constantly immersed in the transcendental divine pastimes of Guru and Gauraṅga, and who inspires devotional intensity in others as they witness his own personal conduct.
karunārdra hṛda-hṛta viṣṇu-janaṁ
jana nandita vandita kṛtya-kulam
nijadeśa videśa suvandya padaṁ
praṇamāmi cha mādhava-deva padamkarunārdra–tender mercy; hṛda–heart; hṛta–lost; viṣṇu-janam–Lord Viṣṇu’s persons, i.e., Vaiṣṇavas; jana–people; nandita–delighted; vandita–offered prayers; kṛtya–activity; kulam–group; nija–own; deśa–country; videśa–foreign country; suvandya–very worshipfully prayed to; padam–feet; praṇamāmi–I do praṇām; cha–and; mādhava-deva–Madhava Deva; padam–to the feet.
8) I offer my most humble obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet of Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhav Goswami Maharaj, whose tender heart melts with kindness towards the devotees of Lord Viṣṇu, whose selfless activities are admired by everyone, who pleases the hearts of all saintly persons, and whose all-attractive lotus feet are worshipped by the entire world.
guru paṅkti surakṣaṇa yatna paraṁ
guru sodara gaurava dāna ratam
anuraktaṣu sevaka vākya-dharam
praṇamāmi cha mādhava-deva padamguru–guru; paṅkti–set; surakṣaṇa–protection; yatna–care; param–utmost; guru–guru; sodara–sibling; gaurava–related to Guru; dāna–giving/charity; ratam–devoted; anuraktaṣu–among those who are affectionate; sevaka–servant; vākya–word/speech/statement; dharam–holder; praṇamāmi–I do praṇām; cha–and; mādhava-deva–Madhava Deva; padam–to the feet.
9) I offer my most humble obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet of Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhav Goswami Maharaj, who constantly endeavors to preserve the glories of his Guru Parampara (lineage). He delights and honors his god-brothers, and mercifully upholds the statements of his affectionate servants, being subdued by their one-pointed loving service.
bhagavad bhajane hyanuraga paraṁ
vrata palana karma sudathya yutam
prabhupada-padoddhṛtakarijanaṁ
praṇamami cha madhava-deva padambhagavad–the Lord’s; bhajane–in the worship; hi–indeed; anurāga–affection; param–utmost; vrata–vow; pālana–following/keeping; karma–karma; sudathya–no idea, maybe this was sudṛḍhya, great determination? Or the word just doesn’t happen to be in the dictionary I’m looking at; yutam– endowed; prabhupāda–Prabhupāda; pada–feet; uddhṛta–delivered/rescued; kāri–performer; janam– persons; praṇamāmi–I do praṇām; cha–and; mādhava-deva–Madhava Deva; padam–to the feet.
10) I offer my most humble obeisances to the Holy Lotus Feet of Srila Bhakti Dayita Madhav Goswami Maharaj, who constantly worships the Supreme Lord with great fondness, who undertakes the scriptural injunctions and devotional vows with great determination, and who delivers innumerable living beings by following the footsteps of Srila Prabhupad.
kṛpayā kṣamātaṁ aparādhi janaṁ
kaluṣāyutāsakta sudina naram
supathe parichālāya sarva dinaṁ
praṇamāmi cha mādhava-deva padamkṛpayā–by mercy; kṣamātam–forgiveness; aparādhi–offender; janam–people; kaluṣā–impure mind; yuta–endowed; āsakta–attached; sudina–very lowly; naram–man; supathe–in the good path; parichālāya–moving about; sarva–all; dinam–lowly; praṇamāmi–I do praṇām; cha–and; mādhava-deva–Madhava Deva; padam–to the feet.
11) Please be merciful to forgive offensive persons like us. We are lowly persons contaminated with material thoughts and endeavors. By showering your mercy, please give us strength to follow the path of highest eternal welfare always. O Śrīla Bhakti Dayita Mādhav Goswāmī Mahārāj! I offer my most humble obeisances to your Holy Lotus Feet.
